Food (In)Security in Times of Independence and Uncertainty

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on food security around the world, with an estimated 811 million people going hungry in 2020. The committee will need to address the immediate needs of vulnerable populations, while also developing long-term strategies to address issues such as food waste, climate change, and inequality. They will also need to address the impact of conflict and political instability on food security, including in countries such as such as the ongoing crisis brought forward by the stocks of wheat stuck in Ukrainian ports due to the Russian agression, which have affected cities across the Middle East.
