Rethinking the UN’s Presence in West Africa in the Sahel

The Sahel region in West Africa has been plagued by violence and instability in recent years, with groups such as Boko Haram and ISIS operating in the area. This has put under scrutiny the role of efficiency of UNOWAS, the United Nations’ Office in West Africa in the Sahel. Following the prerogatives of this special committee, delegates must rethink the purpose, direction, and necessity of UNOWAS.
